Marta Torbidoni

Marta Torbidoni, the soprano from the Italian Marche region, who has established herself as a key interpreter of the Verdi and Belcanto repertoires, has given scintillating performances in Aida, La Traviata, Anna Bolena, Rigoletto, I Puritani, I Masnadieri, Luisa Miller, Nabucco, Lucrezia Borgia, Attila, Il pirata, Roberto Devereux, Norma, Il Trovatore, Ernani and Macbeth, working with conductors of international calibre such as Riccardo Chailly, Daniel Oren, Marco Armiliato, Riccardo Frizza, Jader Bignamini, Fabio Biondi, Pinchas Steinberg, Yves Abel, Michele Spotti, Giampaolo Bisanti, Sesto Quatrini, Francesco Lanzillotta, Fabio Luisi and Giuliano Carella, amongst others.

She has performed in some of the most important Italian and international theatres, including La Scala; the Teatro dell’Opera, Rome; the Teatro Comunale, Bologna; Teatro Massimo, Palermo; Teatro Regio, Turin; Teatro Carlo Felice, Genoa; Teatro Donizetti, Bergamo, the Sferisterio in Macerata; the Arena, Verona; Teatro Colón, Buenos Aires; Theatro Municipal, São Paulo; Opera de Tenerife; Palau de la Música, Valencia and the Gasteig Auditorium, Munich.

Amongst her most recent debuts, Aida at the Arena, Verona, in 2024 and Norma at Teatro alla Scala in July 2025 were extremely well-received. In spring 2026, at the latter theatre, she was highly applauded as Abigaille in Nabucco which marked Maestro Chailly’s farewell as Music Director at La Scala. In the second half of 2026, she is singing in Il Trovatore at the Sferisterio, Macerata; in Nabucco at the Arena, Verona; and in Alzira for the inauguration of the Festival Verdi, Parma.
In past seasons she has also interpreted Creusa in Medea in Corinto at the Donizetti Opera, Bergamo; Nedda in Pagliacci in Sassari; Micaela in Carmen at the Teatro Regio, Turin; Liù in Turandot at the Teatro Regio, Parma; the Rossini Stabat Mater in Cagliari; Die Fledermaus in Trieste; Il Paria by Moniuszko in Warsaw with Europa Galante conducted by Fabio Biondi; Amleto by Faccio and Don Giovanni at the Teatro Filarmonico, Verona; the Messa da Requiem at the Festival Verdi, Parma; and Suor Angelica and Il tabarro in Trieste and at the Teatro Colón, Buenos Aires.

Marta Torbidoni, who began studying opera singing at a very young age under the guidance of Doriana Giuliodoro, received her diploma with full marks from the Conservatorio Pergolesi, Fermo, in 2008 and graduated with distinction in Music in 2013. She has taken several professional training courses with artists such as Renata Scotto, Sylvia Sass, Giorgio Merighi, Giovanna Casolla, Valeria Esposito, Paolo Barbacini, Fabio Armiliato, Micaela Carosi, Mirella Freni and Mariella Devia. While completing her training, she took part in important international opera singing competitions: in 2014 she won the 68th edition of the European Competition for Young Opera Singers in Spoleto and the “Cesare Valletti” Prize; in 2015 she was awarded the “Accademia Puccini” First Prize for best soprano in Torre del Lago; in 2016, as a finalist in the “Voci Verdiane” competition in Busseto, she was selected to be Amalia in I Masnadieri, making her debut at the Teatro Verdi during the Festival Verdi. In 2017, she was awarded the “Franco Enriquez” Prize for best soprano and in 2025 the “Fortunino Award” in New York for the best performance at the 2024 Festival Verdi in Parma, as Odabella in Attila. In summer 2026 she will receive the prestigious Beniamino Gigli Prize.
