Marta Torbidoni
Soprano Marta Torbidoni began studying opera singing at a very young age under the guidance of Doriana Giuliodoro. She graduated in 2008 from the “G. B. Pergolesi” Conservatory in Fermo with top honors and earned a bachelor’s degree in Music in 2013 with a grade of 110 cum laude and an honorable mention. She honed her skills with leading artists such as Renata Scotto, Sylvia Sass, Giorgio Merighi, Giovanna Casolla, Valeria Esposito, Paolo Barbacini, Fabio Armiliato, Micaela Carosi, and Mirella Freni; she is currently continuing her training with soprano Mariella Devia.
She has distinguished herself in major international opera competitions: in 2014, she won the 68th edition of the European Competition for Young Opera Singers in Spoleto and the “Cesare Valletti” Prize; in 2015, she won the “Accademia Puccini” First Prize in Torre del Lago as best soprano; she was a finalist in the “Voci Verdiane” Competition in Busseto, where she won the role of Amalia in I Masnadieri, making her debut at the Teatro Verdi for the 2016 Verdi Festival. In 2017, she received the “Franco Enriquez” Award as best soprano, and in 2025, the “Fortunino Award” in New York for best performance at the 2024 Verdi Festival in Parma in the role of Odabella in Attila.
A leading interpreter of the Verdi and bel canto repertoire, she has established herself in numerous roles, including Aida, La Traviata, Anna Bolena, Rigoletto, I Puritani, I Masnadieri, Luisa Miller, Nabucco, Lucrezia Borgia, Attila, Il pirata, Roberto Devereux, Norma, Il Trovatore, Ernani, and Macbeth, collaborating with internationally renowned conductors such as Daniel Oren, Marco Armiliato, Jader Bignamini, Fabio Biondi, Pinchas Steinberg, Yves Abel, Michele Spotti, Giampaolo Bisanti, Sesto Quatrini, Francesco Lanzillotta, Fabio Luisi, and Giuliano Carella, among others.
She has performed at some of the most important Italian and international theaters, including La Scala in Milan, the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the Teatro Regio in Turin, the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, the Sferisterio in Macerata, the Arena di Verona, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Teatro Municipal in São Paulo, the Teatro dell’Opera in Tenerife, the Palau de la Música in Valencia, and the Gasteig Auditorium in Munich.
She made her debut as Aida at the Arena di Verona in June 2024 and as Norma at La Scala in July 2025. In recent seasons, she has also performed as: Creusa in Medea in Corinto at the Donizetti Festival in Bergamo; Nedda in Pagliacci in Sassari; Micaela in Carmen at the Teatro Regio in Turin; Liù in Turandot at the Teatro Regio in Parma; Rossini’s Stabat Mater in Cagliari; Die Fledermaus in Trieste; Moniuszko’s Il Paria in Warsaw with Europa Galante conducted by Fabio Biondi; Faccio’s Amleto and Don Giovanni at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona and the Messa da Requiem at the Verdi Festival in Parma; Suor Angelica and Il tabarro in Trieste and at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires.
Upcoming engagements include Nabucco at La Scala and the Arena di Verona, Aida (in concert form) at the Granada Festival, Il Trovatore at the Sferisterio in Macerata, and Alzira for the opening of the Verdi Festival in Parma.
