Opera magazine exclaims of NatalyaRomaniw’s recent assumption of the title role of Kát’a Kabanová, “Theevening belonged to [her] as Kát’a…Her voice has such power, purity, and rangethat she seemed to be living the role rather than performing it, and shecarried the audience along in her downward spiral.” In the 2025-26 season, shemakes her debut with Dutch National Opera and returns to both GlyndebourneFestival Opera and Welsh National Opera in her sought-after portrayal of thetitle role of Tosca. She also makes debuts with Finnish National Opera,reprising Helen in Turnage’s Festen and the Orchestra dell’AccademiaNazionale di Santa Cecilia singing Bruckner’s Grosse Messe in additionto singing Strauss’ Vier letze Lieder with the City of BirminghamSymphony Orchestra. Future seasons include debuts with the Metropolitan Opera,Semperoper Dresden, and the Czech Philharmonic as well as returns to RoyalBallet and Opera and Dutch National Opera.

Last season, the Welsh-Ukrainian soprano returned to RoyalBallet and Opera for a role debut as Sieglinde in a new production of DieWalküre directed by Barrie Kosky and with Sir Antonio Pappano conducting.She also returned to the company to reprise the title role of Tosca atRoyal Ballet and Opera and to create the role of Helena in the world premiereof Turnage’s Festen. She returned to Welsh National Opera for Giorgettain Il tabarro and Angelica in Suor Angelica. She sang VaughanWilliams’ Sea Symphony with Pappano conducting the London SymphonyOrchestra at the Edinburgh Festival and Britten’s War Requiem at theTheatro Municipal de São Paulo. 

She is sought-after for herportrayal of title role of Tosca and has sung previous performances ofthe role at the Royal Ballet and Opera and with Staatsoper Hamburg, OperFrankfurt, Deutsche Oper Berlin, English National Opera, and Scottish Opera.She is a favorite at Garsington Opera, at which she has sung the title roles ofAriadne auf Naxos and The Bartered Bride, Tatyana in EugeneOnegin, and the titular Rusalka, the last of which she also sangwith the company on tour to the Edinburgh International Festival as well. Shemade a house and role debut a title role of Jenůfawith Opéra de Rouen and returned to Houston Grand Opera as Blanche in Dialoguesdes Carmélites and Ortlinde in Die Walküre.

She has sung the title role ofKát’a Kabanová and Alice Ford in Falstaff with Grange Park Opera,Lisa in Pique Dame at the National Theatre Brno and Opera Holland Park,Fiora in L’amore di Tre re and Malliela in Wolf Ferrari’s I gioiellidella Madonna with Opera Holland Park, as well as Cio-Cio San in MadamaButterfly and Mimì in La bohème for English National Opera. She hassung previous performances of the title role of Jenůfawith Grange Park Opera and Tatyana in Eugene Onegin with Welsh NationalOpera and Scottish Opera.

Ms. Romaniw joined Sir AntonioPappano and the London Symphony Orchestra as soloist in Britten’s WarRequiem at the BBC program. She sang Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 14 withKirill Karabits leading the National Polish Radio Orchestra and has recordedthe same piece for BBC Radio 3 with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Alsowith the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, she has sung Barber’s Knoxville:Summer of 1915, also at the BBC Proms. She has sung Verdi’s Requiem andBeethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Sir Mark Elder conducting the Hallé andrepeated the latter with Rafael Payare conducting the Simón Bolívar SymphonyOrchestra at the Edinburgh International Festival. She has also joined theHallé for Strauss’ Vier letzte Lieder and Mahler’s Symphony No. 2.She joined the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra for the world premiere ofTurnage’s Testament, also with Kirill Karabits. Also at the EdinburghInternational Festival, she sang Elgar’s The Kingdom led by MartinBrabbins, and Mirga Gražinytė Tyla conducted her inperformances of Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 with the City of BirminghamSymphony Orchestra. She has sung Giorgetta in Il tabarro in concert withMark Elder conducting at the BBC Proms and joined Ben Glassberg and the BBCPhilharmonia Orchestra for “A night at the opera.” She recently released herfirst solo recital with pianist Lada Valesova.

She is a former Butler StudioArtist of Houston Grand Opera, and while with the company, sang  her firstperformances of Mimì in La bohème, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus,Micaëla in Carmen, and Krystina in Weinberg’s The Passenger. Shewas named Young Artist of the Year at the Gramophone Classical Music Awards andwon the Singer Award at the Royal Philharmonic Society Awards in 2020. Her manyother competition and prize wins include the First Prize and the Lovelady SongPrize from the Kathleen Ferrier Awards and from the Houston Grand Opera EleanorMcCollum Competition. She is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music andDrama, at which she won the prestigious Gold Medal in her final year.
