Nino Machaidze
Nino Machaidze, born in Tbilisi, Georgia, is a celebrated soprano known for her vibrant stage presence and international acclaim. A graduate of the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala in Milan, she rose to prominence with her 2008 debut at the Salzburg Festival as Juliette in Roméo et Juliette alongside Rolando Villazón.
She has performed at many of the world’s leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House–Covent Garden, Opera National de Paris, Teatro alla Scala, Bavarian State Opera, and Los Angeles Opera. Signature roles include Violetta (La Traviata), Gilda (Rigoletto), Mimì (La Bohème), Juliette (Roméo et Juliette), Thaïs, Desdemona (Otello), and Marie (La fille du régiment).
Recent and future engagements include Elisabetta, regina d’Inghilterra in Palermo, La Bohème in Monte Carlo and at Festival Puccini, Giovanna d’Arco in Parma and Rome, Faust in Liège, Manon in Paris and Vienna, I masnadieri in Marseille, Romèo et Juliette in Rome and in Berin, Falstaff in Verona and major roles in Les pêcheurs de perles, Les contes d’Hoffmann, Guillaume Tell, Pagliacci, Il barbiere di Siviglia, and both Verdi’s and Rossini’s Otello.
