Carolina López Moreno
Carolina López Moreno is one of the most compelling sopranos of her generation, internationally recognized for her exceptional vocal technique, emotional intensity and magnetic stage presence. Still in her early thirties, she performs the repertoire’s most demanding leading roles at many of Europe’s foremost opera houses, including the Royal Opera House London, Teatro di San Carlo, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
Her London debut in Puccini’s La rondine under Sir Antonio Pappano was hailed by critics as a “star-is-born moment,” while her Suor Angelica at the BBC Proms with the London Symphony Orchestra drew exceptional international acclaim, with critics naming her “the star of the show.”
Recent seasons have brought a series of major artistic successes, including her acclaimed Manon Lescaut in Cologne, her deeply celebrated double portrayal of Zemfira/Nedda in Aleko/Pagliacci at Teatro Massimo di Palermo, and her debut as Violetta in La traviata at the New National Theatre Tokyo. Her Palermo performances, in particular, attracted extraordinary critical attention for their visceral dramatic realism and emotional truth, with OperaWire describing her as “a stellar performer” whose acting possessed such “veracity” that the critic “almost felt compelled to rush to her aid.”
Particularly noted for the dramatic intensity and vocal radiance of her performances, López Moreno has also received exceptional recognition for her Santuzza in Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana under Thomas Hengelbrock and was nominated as a Rising Star at the International Opera Awards.
In 2026, she appeared at the Closing Ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games in the Arena di Verona, one of the world’s most widely broadcast cultural events, further expanding her presence beyond the opera stage into global cultural performance.
Alongside her operatic career, Carolina López Moreno is increasingly involved in film, international artistic collaborations and curated cultural projects that bridge opera, cinema and contemporary visual storytelling.
