Iván Ayón Rivas
Iván Ayón Rivas began his vocal training at the National Conservatory of Music of Peru under the guidance of María Eloisa Aguirre. His development continued with internationally renowned artists including Juan Diego Flórez, Ernesto Palacio, Vincenzo Scalera, and Luigi Alva. He currently studies in Italy with the esteemed baritone Roberto Servile.
In 2013, Ayón Rivas earned second prize at the Peruvian National Competition for Opera Singers. The following year, he performed a series of solo recitals across Peru. His international debut came in November 2014, singing in a gala concert in Ludwigshafen with the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, conducted by Fabio Luisi, as part of a benefit concert organized by Juan Diego Flórez.
In 2015, he won the third edition of the Concorso Internazionale di Canto "Premio Etta Limiti". He soon made his mark in the European opera scene, performing Mercadante’s Francesca da Rimini at the Festival della Valle d’Itria under Fabio Luisi, and returning the following year in Verdi's Un giorno di regno.
His recent engagements have included leading roles in La Traviata (Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome, Madrid), Falstaff (Wien, Turin, Paris), L’Arlesiana (Berlin), Il Corsaro (Piacenza), I Capuleti e i Montecchi (Rome), and La Bohème (Turin, Venice, Rome, Puccini Festival and Florence). He has also sung L’elisir d’amore (Las Palmas), Rigoletto (Florence with Fabio Luisi; Turin, London; Rome under Daniele Gatti; Venice, Tokyo, Liège, Erl and Las Palmas), La Rondine (Puccini Festival), Don Pasquale and Gianni Schicchi (Gran Teatre del Liceu), Les Contes d’Hoffmann (Sydney, Lyon and Venice), Macbeth (debut at Teatro alla Scala), Faust (Valencia and Venice), and Il proscritto, La Rondine and Simon Boccanegra (Opera Rara, London), as well as Guillaume Tell and Eugene Onegin (Santa Fe and Wien), Lucia di Lammermoor (Genoa and Bologna), Mavra (Florence), Gianni Schicchi (Florence and Valencia), I lombardi alla prima crociata (Madrid), Verdi’s Messa da Requiem (Zurich)
In the upcoming season: I Capuleti e i Montecchi in Barcelona and in Wien, Faust in Paris, Maria Stuarda in Munich, Rigoletto in Motnecarlo, Il campo de’ crociati con OperaRara.
In 2021, Iván Ayón Rivas achieved international acclaim by winning First Prize, the Don Plácido Domingo Ferrer Prize for Zarzuela, and the Rolex Audience Prize at the prestigious Operalia Competition.
