Caterina Piva

Mezzosoprano Caterina Piva began her artistic training approaching at a young age the drama theatre in which she graduated in 2009 in Milan and subsequently she got her degree in singing in 2017 at the Conservatory of the same city.

After being classified in some international competitions, she is the winner of the «Emerging voices» category of the 69th Edition of the As.Li.Co., following which she playd the role of Meg in Falstaff at major theaters of the Lombardy circuit and then Ciesca and Mercedes in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

She is currently a student of the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala, where she made her debut in January 2019 as Annina in the historic staging by Liliana Cavani of La Traviata conducted by Myung-Whun Chung.

Then following Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi staged by Woody Allen and conducted by Adam Fischer and Maddalena in the other historical production by Gilbert Deflo of Rigoletto conducted by Daniel Oren.

Among her recent and upcoming engagements the participation in the Placido Domingo Gala at Teatro alla Scala, Emilia in G. Verdi’s Otello at Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino under the baton of Zubin Mehta and directed by Valerio Binasco, Flora in La Traviata at Teatro alla Scala conducted by Zubin Mehta and Maddalena once more at Teatro del Maggio Musicale and at Teatro San Carlo in Neaples.
