Matteo Peirone

Matteo Peirone, born in Savona, has a University Degree in Greek Ancient Literature. He trained as a singer with Franca Mattiucci, Paolo Montarsolo and Renata Scotto. He won many Lyric Competitions: among these stand out "ASILICO" in Milano and "Verdi" in Parma.

He has already sang in the most important Opera Houses in Italy and abroad standing out as interpreter of the principal roles of "Basso Buffo" or "Brillante" and in other "Character roles". He is regularly invited at Teatro alla Scala of Milan. He sang under the direction of R. Muti both at Scala Milano and at Ravenna Festival with Wiener Philarmoniker. Very intense his activity abroad: Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Barbican Hall in London, Lincoln Center in New York, Opera Bastille and Theatre du Champs- Elysees in Paris, Amsterdam DNO, Opera du Rhin of Strasbourg, Montpellier, ABAO of Bilbao, Mestranza of Seville,Palau des arts of Valencia, Budapest, Staatsoper of Dresden,Hamburg Staatsoper, Opera of Frankfurt, Opera of Bonn, Palm Beach Opera House, Bunka Kaikan of Tokyo, Shanghai Opera House...

He has recorded for Decca the role of Sacrestano in Tosca conducted by Zubin Metha. Significant recordings for TDK: Boheme of Teatro alla Scala and Elviro in Xerses with Les Talents Lyrique and Ch. Rousset. For Accentus Music : Boheme from Palau des arts (Chailly / Livermore). For UNITEL : Tosca from Salzburg Festival 2018.

Great successes his "buffo" interpretations : Dulcamara in Elisir d'Amore in Teatro alla Scala, Tel Aviv opera, Palm Beach Opera, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan,.... Don Bartolo in Barbiere di Siviglia in Opera Roma, Frankfurt Oper, Bonn Oper, Dresden Semperoper..., Don Magnifico in Cenerentola in Strasburg Opera, Genova Carlo Felice, ..., Mamma Agata in Viva la Mamma in Wien and Dresden. Matteo Peirone is also world known as one of the most impressive interpreter of the "Character roles" like Benoit and Alcindoro in Boheme, Sagrestano in Tosca, Antonio in Nozze di Figaro, Dottor Spinelloccio in Gianni Schicchi.

He has been the Sagrestano in Tosca all over the world: from the Scala Milano till the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, from Opera Bastille of Paris till Tokyo, from Palm Beach till Bilbao. He has been Benoit and Alcindoro in Paris Bastille, Scala Milano, Torino, Genova, Sevilla, Valencia, Roma, Napoli, Tokyo, Shanghai,..... Antonio in Nozze di Figaro in Scala, Budapest, Berlin, New York,.. He worked with some of the most important directors (Ronconi, Zeffirelli, Miller, Vick, ...) and conductors (Muti, Metha, Thielemann, Oren, Bartoletti, Noseda, Dudamel,Luisotti...) Intensive his activity in writing shows, international masterclasses and in concert: spreading the pearls of the italian Opera buffa. Matteo Peirone made his debut in Salzburg Oester Festival 2018 with Tosca, directed by Ch. Thielemann (Sagrestano). Always with Thielemann Matteo Peirone sung like Sagrestano in Semperoper Dresden.

He made his debut in Edinburgh Festival in 2016 with Don Giovanni conducted by Ivan Fischer and with Boheme conducted by G. Noseda .Other important Boheme at DNO in Amsterdam, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Opera di Roma.

With this Tosca production Matteo Peirone makes his debut in the Salzburg Summmer Festival. He will come back in Salzburg Festival also for the 2022 edition (Trittico).

His next engagements include Boheme at the San Carlo Theater in Naples (new production directed by Emma Dante) and Boheme at the Teatro Regio in Turin (new production directed by Gavazzeni and Maranghi). And “Gianni Schicchi - The Film” directed by Damiano Michieletto. In these last years Matteo Peirone began to work as Director /Barbiere di Siviglia and Don Giovanni in Massy Opera; L’Ammalato Immaginario in Savona and Novara,….). He is the founder and artistic director since 2010 of the Noli Musica Festival.
