Venetian bass-baritone, Tommaso Barea received his bachelor's degree in Treviso/Italy with Pr. Sherman Lowe.

In 2014 as being the youngest winner of the "European Union Competition" in Spoleto/Italy he debuted with the role of Schaunard in La Bohème, while he was attending Spoleto's Festival of Two World Academy. In 2016 he joined the ensemble of Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino where he perfected his studies under the tutelage of Gianni Tangucci.

Additionally he participated in International Master Classes and Opera Workshops with among others, Chris Merrit, Alfonso Antoniozzi, Enza Ferrari, Michele Errico, Marco Berti and Katia Ricciarelli as also has collaborated with acclaimed conductors like Z. Mehta, G. Bisanti, J. Valcuha, R. Estrada, G. Tourniaire, G. La Malfa, M. Beltrami, S. Rolli, N. Paszkowski, M. Angius, P. Walsh and with directors like H. De Ana, G.Del Monaco, D. Michieletto, A. Bernard, J. Furness.

During past years Tommaso Barea won numerous prestigious National and International competitions such as: Winner of As.Li.Co.competition for the role of Guglilemo in Così fan tutte, "Magda Oliviero Opera Competition" 3rd prize, International competition O.M.E.G.A, Concorso Internazionale di Canto Lirico "Mauro Pagano" 1stprize, "Franco Federici" 1st Prize, "International Opera Competition Rinaldo Pelizzoni" 2nd prize and Audiece prize, XVI International Competition “Giovanni Battista Velluti” 1st prize, International Competition "Young Musicians" 1st prize and "CountyAward"1st prize. In 2016 after receiving a prize for "Young Male Talent" he participated in the art project "Ising Beijing". On January2018 he won the Mercedes Viñas Prize at the “Francesco Viñas” Competition in Barcellona.

Among his recent and future engagements: Acquagranda at La Fenice, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Don Carlo and La traviata at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Rigoletto in Verona and in Bari, La Bohème in a Japanese tournée, La fanciulla del West at the Teatro San Carlo, Edipo re (Leoncavallo) at the Teatro Verdi di Pisa and Carmen in Ancona and in the new production at the Sferisterio Opera Festival, Il barbiere di Siviglia in Palermo and Paris, Pietro il Grande in Bergamo, La bohème in Turin, at the Festival Puccini in Torre del Lago and in Palermo, Le Songe d’une nuit d’été at the Wexford Festival, Pagliacci in Macerata, Ariadne auf Naxos in Bologna, La Cenerentola in Salerno, Pagliacci in Macerata, Il matrimonio Segreto in Ancona, Rinaldo in Venice, Così fan tutte in tour with the Kammerorchester Basel in Paris, Hamburg, Luxembourg, Le nozze di Figaro in Sydney, Moscow and Komische Oper Berlin, “Don Giovanni” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in Macerata and at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.
