Ekaterina Metlova

Her exceptional voice and dramatic talent has caught the interest of numerous opera houses. She has performed in Italy, France, Spain the USA, Canada, China and Korea.

Graduated at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow in 2002, in the period 2002-10 continued her studies at the Accademia dell’ Arena di Verona in Italy and at the Centro de Perfeccionamento Plácido Domingo at the Palacio de les Arts in Valencia, Spain. She took part in several competitions with great success and she won the first Prize at the Bilbao Voice Competition in 2011.

Early in her career Ekaterina Metlova sang mostly light mezzo roles: Charlotte/Werther ( Pavia, Cremona, Bolzano, Ravenna 2004 ), Dulcinée / Don Quichotte (Ljubljana 2008) , Rosina/Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Bari 2012 ) and title role in Carmen ( Bari 2011 ). In 2012 Metlova’s voice developed from mezzo towards dramatic soprano.

In June 2013 she made her soprano debut with Puccini’s Minnie (La Fanciulla del West) in La Coruña (Spain) with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia under the baton of Lorin Maazel. In July 2013 she performed the same role at the Castleton Festival (USA), also with Mto. Maazel.

Recent and future engagements include Madama Butterfly at the Castleton Festival, Attila a La Coruña, Nabucco a Oviedo and Deutsche Oper Berlin, Der fliegende Holländer a La Coruña, besides several concerts and recitals in Spain, Italy and Germany.
