Matteo Lippi

Born in Genoa in 1984, the tenor Matteo Lippi began to study singing with the mezzo-soprano Laura Bulian and continued his training at the CUBEC-Accademia di Belcanto in Modena under the guidance of Mirella Freni who then followed him on his path.

In 2013 he won the Toti dal Monte competition and debuted as Rodolfo in La bohème in the theaters of Treviso, Ferrara, Jesi and Fermo and in the following year, always with the same role he debuted in two important theatres that will later see him as a regular guest: La Fenice and the Bolshoi.

He will do his debut as Alfredo in La traviata at La Fenice, a role that will bring him back in Venice for several seasons. He will continue his debut in Oslo and in Florence, first in the courtyard of Palazzo Pitti for the Summer Season and then at the new Teatro del Maggio in Florence in the Verdi Popular Trilogy production conducted by Fabio Luisi.

He will return in Bolshoi with his other horse-battle, Rodolfo that will bring him also at the San Carlo in Naples, at the Terme di Caracalla for the Summer season of the Opera of Rome, in Athens, Cagliari, Florence, Venice, Cardiff and Bologna .

Among other debuts, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Glyndebourne Festival Tour, Ruggero in La rondine at the Holland Park Festival in London and Roberto in Le Villi in Modena.

His recent and future commitments include Verdi’s Requiem at the Auditorium in Milan, the Gala Concert at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London for the fiftieth anniversary of the Glyndebourne Tour, Pinkerton in Valencia and Florence, the return to the Holland Park Festival with the debut in Un ballo in maschera and at the Glyndebourne Festival Tour with the debut as Duca in the new production of Rigoletto, the debut at the NNTT in Tokyo as Rodolfo, Alfredo in Copenhagen and at La Fenice, the debut in Macbeth in Bergen and the return to Tokyo for Verdi concerts with Fabio Luisi.
