Simon Orfila

He was born in Alaior (Menorca) and being sixteen years old he started singing with the choir of the Opera of Mahón (Menorca). He attended a singing course of Maty Pinkas in Bulgaria and he studied later at the School of Music Reina Sofía in Madrid, becoming a pupil of Alfredo Kraus with whom he studied till Mr. Kraus death.

He has sung many recitals and concerts in Menorca, Mallorca, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and Alicante, and also in Helsinborg (Sweden) and Toulouse (France).

In opera, he has sung several roles in Palma de Mallorca, Mahón, Teatro San Carlos of Lisbon and sings frequently at the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona (Norma, Turandot in the opening performances of the theatre, Lucia di Lammermoor, Nozze di Figaro in the Robert Carsen production, Un ballo in maschera, I Puritani, Samson et Dalila with José Carreras, La Bohème, La Fattucchiera, La clemenza di Tito, La Favorite, Don Giovanni, Il viaggio a Reims, Maria Stuarda, L’Elisir d’amore, La Gazzetta, Semiramide, La Cenerentola, L’arbore di Diana and Anna Bolena.
