Chiara Amarù

Chiara Amarù, born in 1984, starts her musical studies under her parents' guidance. She has been part of Teatro Massimo’s in Palermo children choir from 1991 to 2001 and graduates with honors in 2007 at the V. Bellini Music Conservatory in Palermo.

She attendes vocal technique classes with Sonia Ganassi, Luciana Serra, Barbara Frittoli, Simone Alaimo, Alfonso Antoniozzi, Francisco Araiza and Raul Gimenez, a master in musical gesture with Eva Wymola and a workshop on Mozart's theater with Lorenzo Mariani.

She’s finalist at 59th As.Li.Co. Competition for European Young Opera Singers, followed by her debut as Dorabella in Così Fan Tutte at the opera houses of the Circuito Lombardo. She also obtains the Youngest Finalist Award at the 7th Ottavio Ziino International Opera Competition. In May she performs: second-Magd in Elektra with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana at the Teatro Politeama in Palermo; and Mozart's Requiem in Chieti under the baton of Donato Renzetti. She attends the Scuola dell’Opera in Bologna from 2009 to 2011.

Highlights of her 2010 appearances are: winner of the 61th As.Li.Co. competition for the role of Angelina in La Cenerentola; she debuts as Idamante in Idomeneo in Bologna, she performs for a live broadcast event on national radio in Turin with Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale – R.A.I., Assunta in Napoli Milionaria at the Festival della Valle D'Itria in Martina Franca, Madame Balandard in Offenbach's Monsieur Choufleuri in Bologna and she took part in a concert with Andrea Bocelli for the 2010 Golden Pavarotti Award in Correggio.

She sang Angelina in La Cenerentola in Brescia, Cremona, Como, Pavia, Piacenza and Bologna, Amenofi in Mosè in Egitto at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and a concert with Boris Petrunshansky at the MI-TO Festival in Milan and Turin; soloist in Mozart's Missa in C minor K 427 in Cagliari and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater in Bologna.

She also performs as Isabella in L'Italiana in Algeri in Bologna and Bari, Marianna in Signor Bruschino and Isaura in Tancredi in Pesaro during the Rossini Opera Festival, Fidalma in Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto in Turin, Malcolm in La donna del lago in Pesaro at the Rossini Opera Festival and Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Palermo and Turin.

She has been awarded with 2013 International opera awards – Oscar della Lirica as best mezzo of the year.
